The Warmest February

February 2017 was one of the warmest North Carolina has ever seen.  There were days and days of 70 degree weather, and sometimes nearing 80.

Usually, I love warm weather, can't stand the cold.  But  during this warm weather, my mother grew very ill, and I found out that my mother had stage 4 for cancer in her lungs and thyroid that had spread from literally only God knows (she never had a biopsy).

So the warm weather began to just feel weird and foreboding, like my world was about to be flipped upside down.

And sure enough, in the early morning hours of March 14th (1 day day after my 42nd birthday, and one day after the 12th anniversary of my father's death), my mother died.

And we buried her on March 16th (just yesterday) It was a little over 40 degrees, and I was wearing a coat that she had bought me almost 20 years ago and a sweater, the last Christmas present my dad had ever given me.

It was sunny and cold, and I was grateful.

One Goal Completed!

I have Inner Peace!! Just kidding.  I ran a mile without stopping on Tuesday and today Thursday.

So that's the big news for today.  Here is a run down on my other progress.

Inner Peace-I can see a slight shift. Just being aware that this is something that I am striving for helps.  Just being aware of the pitfalls that prevent this helps.  Just being aware of how powerful this one is, is very helpful.
Weight- ARGHHH!!! The last time I  weighed, I weighed 140.6, this is far from 139.2 and I might even be further today but I didn't want to weigh today.  I am going out to eat with my Honey Bear in a little bit, so I will try to be good.  I didn't do horrible yesterday BUT there were some missteps.

Mile-Goal Met!!!!!!  Now I am working on consistency.  I want to get to 15 minutes without stopping, so 12 will seem like an easy day.  I even have dreams of running a half marathon.  That dream is slowly being ignited within.

Python Programming-I am up to chapter 6 in the book, and I didn't work on it yesterday.  So I will work on it today.

Eat vegetables every day.  So far so good, even when just a little.  Yesterday, I ate few carrots at Cracker Barrel.

Christmas Vacation Goals

When I left work for Christmas vacation, everyone was saying goodbye, like it would be a long time before we saw each other again.  I jokingly said, "Really, guys we're only going to be gone for a week and a half."
But a lot can happen in week and a half.  And I thought, what if I did come back a different person (in a good way).
Here are my goals.
1. Inner Peace
2. Get down to 139.2
3. Run a mile without stopping
4. Learn Python programming language
5. Eat vegetables every day.

Today:
1. How does one define inner peace.  It is different things for different people.  For me, it is a relationship with God and doing something with my life to make someone else's life easier.  It's also being thankful to God for the things that I have and not focus on the things I don't have.
I am going to start this one (the helping others part) close to home (like in my home).

Today, I made sure I told my mother how thankful I was for her Christmas gift and the birthday gift she got me a year or two ago.  I made sure that I told my husband how much I appreciated him taking me to the museum and lunch today.  I washed clothes and I try to step into his world to learn more about his job. Tomorrow I am going to let my sister choose the movie, though I am not crazy about it.  And I washed clothes today.

2.  I didn't weigh today because I ate so much on Christmas.  I did pretty good with eating.  I had oatmeal and a Steak Salad for dinner.  Hopefully the Steak Salad didnt have more than 1200 calories.

3. I ran 8 minutes 15 seconds without stopping.  I hope to get at least to nine tomorrow.

4. Haven't done anything with this today. I'll try to do a little tonight.
5. I had lettuce with and tomatoes with my steak salad.
